A new podiatrist for Maidstone and the Western Suburbs
OK, not exactly new. I’ve been operating as an employed podiatrist in Melbourne for several years now, having operated from allied health clinics in Caroline Springs and Newport for the last six years. With two children in daycare and no social life thanks to that global pandemic that everyone is talking about, I’ve been toying with the idea of opening my own practice for a little while now.
On one of the many days he took off work to “look after” the kids when they were a bit too snotty for pandemic era daycare attendance, my husband incorporated Changes a Foot Pty Ltd, designed a foot logo in a lurid shade of green and built a rudimentary website. Since then we’ve both been busy working behind the scenes to improve and organise the all the things you need to organise when you open a podiatry practice (there are a lot of things!).
Lisa Allen – Podiatrist
Right now, Changes a Foot is just me, Lisa Allen. I’m a highly experienced podiatrist, having been practicing almost constantly since I qualified over a decade ago. I’m originally from country Queensland and moved to the bright lights of Brisbane to train. I worked in Brisbane for a few years but those lights weren’t bright enough, so I moved to London (where I met my webmaster). In London I worked in community health and it was here that I really honed my experience in diabetic foot care and podiatric wound care.
Those London lights were quite bright though, so after a few years we packed up and shipped ourselves over to Melbourne, where we have been ever since.
Specialist foot care
In Melbourne I still focus heavily on diabetic foot care and nail care, but have also further developed my areas of focus to include sports injuries and children’s footcare, as well as everything you would expect from a full-service podiatrist. On any given day I will perfom ingrown townail removals, ulcer debridements, gout treatments and orthotics fittings. No two days are the same!

I’m not going to tell you how to do my job, but over the next few months I will be adding a few links to videos that we’re going to make to help you keep your feet in tip top condition so that you don’t have to visit so often (wait, is that a good business plan?). I’ve got a few ideas lined up already, like how to choose summer footwear that is good for your feet and how to buy shoes for kids, but I’d love to hear from you.

We’re waiting to formalise a few details first so please be patient. I will confirm an opening date as soon as my equipment has been delivered and my authorisations are in place.
